NYC Schools Account Support
I need to reset my password/can't access my 'MySchools' account. What do I do?
MySchools allows you to reset your account password yourself.
On the log-in page, click "Forgot password?" and follow the steps to reset it. If you have other issues accessing an existing account, talk to your child's current school counselor, get support from a Family Welcome Center, or call 718-935-2009.
I need to reset my student's NYC Public Schools account password.
There are three different ways you can reset your NYC Public Schools password:
-
Reset it yourself through the Student Self-Service tool. To use the Student Self-Service tool you must have created a PIN or set up security questions. If you have not done either, see options 2 and 3. Through this method, you can reset your own password once every 30 days.
-
Ask your parent or guardian to reset it through NYCSA. Your parent or guardian can reset your password in NYCSA. If they don’t have a NYCSA account, they can create one for free.
-
Ask your school to reset your password for you. If you are unable to reset your password, contact your school for help. They can find instructions on how to reset your password on the Reset Student Account Passwords page (NYC Public Schools staff only) on the InfoHub.
PIN
By default, a PIN is not set for your account. There is no universal PIN for your school. Your school does not have, or create, a PIN for you. You must create a PIN yourself. To create your PIN:
-
Sign in to the Student Self-Service tool with your NYC Public Schools username and password.
-
Go to the left menu bar, and click on Pin Reset (this applies for creating a new PIN).
-
Enter a PIN.
-
Confirm your PIN by entering it again.
-
Click on Save Changes.
-
That’s it. An email will be sent to your NYC Public Schools account to confirm you created a PIN.
Please note that PINs are optional for your NYC Public Schools account. However, if you do not create a PIN, you will not be able to use the self-service tool to reset your password. If you feel like it would be hard to remember your PIN, or you are the parent of a young student, we recommend resetting your password through NYCSA.
Security Questions
Like a PIN, security questions are, by default, not set up. You must set them up. To set up security questions:
-
Sign in to the Student Self-Service tool with your NYC Public Schools username and password.
-
Go to the left menu bar, and click on Security Questions.
-
Select and answer three questions of your choosing. Make sure you choose answers that you will remember.
-
Enter your password.
-
Click on Save Changes.
-
That’s it. An email will be sent to your NYC Public Schools account to confirm you set up security questions.

If any of the information you see about your child in NYC Schools Account is incorrect, contact your child’s school.
